Committee on Public Affairs and Public Relations

What We Do

The purpose of the Committee on Public Affairs and Public Relations is to provide leadership in developing, advocating, and promoting public policies and public relations programs that serve and benefit members, enhance governmental and public appreciation for chemically-related sciences, and improve the well-being of society.

The Committee is responsible for:

  • Improving public understanding of the chemical sciences鈥� role in the nation鈥檚 economy, and, especially, of chemistry鈥檚 vital role in many national policy issues.
  • Striving for public policies consistent with current chemical knowledge.
  • Pursuing public policies that advance both chemistry and the other sciences.
  • Approving the 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 National Historic Chemical Landmark designations, upon recommendation by the Committee鈥檚 National Historic Chemical Landmarks subcommittee.
  • Monitor and act on scientific mobility and human rights cases involving chemistry related scientists, consistent with Board criteria and procedures.
