Professor Frances Arnold
Dr. Frances H. Arnold, California Institute of Technology, received the 2025 Priestley Medal for pioneering contributions to the development of directed evolution as a method for chemical and biological design. Dr. Arnold鈥檚 Priestley Medalist Award Address titled 鈥淎 Random (Mostly) Uphill Walk鈥� included sharing some of her life experiences, as well as an explanation of why Dr. Arnold loved evolution for design. In addition to being the best chemist, Nature is also the best engineer.
