Oroidin is a term used to describe a group of alkaloids found in marine sponges; it is also the name of the specific dibromo compound shown. Recently, A. Ferreira-Pereira and co-workers reported that聽 responsible for the multidrug resistance phenotype in the yeast聽Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The molecule may aid in the search for multidrug-resistance鈥揳voiding anticancer drugs.
