On behalf of the American Chemical Öйú365betÖÐÎĹÙÍø (ACS), I would like to congratulate you on your confirmation as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Serving in this position is an important service to the public; as an engineer with extensive work in the energy space, I am confident that you will be a skillful leader of DOE.

Founded in 1876, ACS is one of the world’s largest scientific organizations with more than 200,000 individuals in our global community. We work to improve all lives through the transforming power of chemistry towards a world built on science. Our mission is to advance scientific knowledge, empower a global community and champion scientific integrity.

ACS follows a wide range of public policy issues and interacts extensively with Congress, U.S. federal agencies, and dozens of scientific societies around the world. As you’ll see, we share many of DOE’s top priorities, including in advancing multiple energy sources; emerging technologies in biotechnology and quantum science; and U.S. artificial intelligence.

Over the years, ACS has worked closely with the DOE � particularly with the Office of Science and its Basic Energy Sciences (BES) and Biological and Environmental Research (BER) programs � on a variety of projects and efforts. DOE and ACS share the goal of highlighting chemistry’s relevance to many of today’s challenges and tomorrow’s solutions. Furthermore, the Department is an important source of support for many of our members.
