ACS Webinar focuses on green chemistry innovations and applications
WASHINGTON, May 13, 2010 â€� News media and others interested in the chemical sciences are invited to join the next in a series of American Chemical Öйú365betÖÐÎĹÙÍø (ACS) Webinarsâ„�, focusing on green chemistry applications and innovations.
Scheduled for Thursday, May 20, 2 � 3 p.m. EDT, the free ACS Webinar� will feature Anne Wallin, Ph.D., Director of Sustainable Chemistry at Dow Chemical,speaking on �Green Chemistry: Innovation and Application for the New Decade.�
ACS Webinars� connect you with subject experts and global thought leaders in chemical sciences, management and business to address current topics of interest to scientific and engineering professionals. Each webinar includes a short presentation followed by a Q & A session.
News media and scientists can tune into the conference without charge, but must in advance.
Wallin’s topics will include:
- Why it is sensible to be green and sustainable
- One company's approach to green chemistry and sustainability
- Green chemistry as a paradigm to identify and guide innovation
- Some of the successes and challenges –� lessons for scientific professionals
Wallin leads the 2015 Sustainable Chemistry Goal project team, which is integrating sustainable chemistry across all disciplines, functions and businesses at Dow. She also leads the company’s Life Cycle Assessment Expert Group. Sustainable Chemistry is a corporate critical program that will guide and inform Dow’s portfolio and investment decisions over the coming decade. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Carleton College, and received a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a post-doctoral fellow at G.D. Searle. She is a member of the External Advisory Boards for the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute and the Center for Sustainable Systems at the University of Michigan. She is also a member of the California Green Ribbon Science Panel.
