ACS Webinar focuses on how to negotiate salary or pay for chemistry professionals

WASHINGTON, May 20, 2010 鈥� News media and others interested in the chemical sciences are invited to join the next in a series of American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) Webinars鈩�, focusing on strategies for negotiating pay or salaries for chemistry professionals.

Scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 2 鈥� 3 p.m. EDT, the free ACS Webinar鈩� will feature Meredith Dow, Senior Partner with PROVEN, a scientific staffing and consulting firm, speaking on 鈥淜nowing Your Worth: Strategies to Negotiate for Salary or Pay for Chemical Professionals.鈥�

ACS Webinars鈩� connect you with subject experts and global thought leaders in chemical sciences, management and business to address current topics of interest to scientific and engineering professionals. Each webinar includes a short presentation followed by a Q & A session.

News media and scientists can tune into the conference without charge, but must in advance.

Dow鈥檚 topics will include:

  • How to assess your worth in the current market
  • Negotiable elements of a compensation package (salary, stock, vacation)
  • How to negotiate the best possible compensation in a down market

Dow has 13 years experience in the life sciences staffing industry, and before joining PROVEN, she opened and managed the scientific branch for a $1 billion staffing company. She developed the San Diego branch into that company鈥檚 most successful scientific branch for nine of the 10 years that she was with the company. She holds a B.S. degree in zoology with an emphasis on animal behavior from the University of California, Davis. She has more than four years of hands-on experience in the biotechnology industry, specifically in immunoassay development. Dow is an active member of the Southern California Biotechnology Council鈥檚 Advisory Committee and the Mesa College Chemistry Technician Program Advisory Committee; sits on the ACS Small Business Advisory Board and has served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego branch of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science for 10 years. She is leading the development of the Life Sciences Practice for PROVEN.
