American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 journal editor receives prestigious Inchon Prize
WASHINGTON, Oct. 11, 2010 鈥� Jinwoo Cheon, Ph.D., senior editor and editorial board member for two American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) journals, today was awarded the prestigious 24th Inchon Prize, one of South Korea鈥檚 most prestigious awards, for his achievements in science. The ceremony took place in Seoul.
Cheon is the Horace G. Underwood Professor of Chemistry at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea and the director of National Center for Evolutionary Nanoparticles.
The Inchon Prize honors the memory of Kim Sung-soo, former vice-president of the Republic of Korea, founder of Korea University, and founder of the Dong-A Ilbo (the East Asia Daily), a major newspaper in South Korea. The Inchon Foundation, which makes the awards, annually honors individuals for outstanding contributions to the advancement of journalism, science, public service, and entrepreneurship.
Cheon is one of the world leading authorities on nanoscience and the prize recognizes his contributions to the design of inorganic nanoparticles and discoveries of innovative nanomaterials for biomedical and energy related sciences.
He is a senior editor of the ACS鈥� Accounts of Chemical Research and an editorial board member of ACS鈥� Nano Letters and the RSC鈥檚 Journal of Materials Chemistry. They are among 38 high-impact, peer-reviewed journals published by the ACS. Cheon also is a fellow of Royal 中国365bet中文官网 of Chemistry and a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology.
