American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 Webinar focuses on careers in intellectual property for chemists

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2010 鈥� News media and others interested in the chemical sciences are invited to join the next in a series of American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) Webinars鈩� focusing on building a career that combines chemistry and intellectual property (IP).

Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7, from 2 鈥� 3 p.m. EDT, the free ACS Webinar鈩� will feature Robert J. Koch, an attorney with the Washington, D.C., law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, speaking on Careers in Intellectual Property for Chemists.

ACS Webinars鈩� connect you with experts and global thought leaders in the chemical sciences, management and business to address current topics of interest to scientific and engineering professionals. Each webinar includes a short presentation followed by a Q & A session.

News media and scientists can tune into the conference without charge but must in advance.

Participants will learn:

  • The three most available paths to move from the lab, industry or the classroom into the IP field
  • How knowledge of chemistry and/or lab experiences may fit into the vastly different worlds of patent procurement and patent enforcement
  • Which IP positions are in urgent need of technically qualified people and which IP fields show high prospects for future demands

Koch is a partner resident in Milbank鈥檚 Washington and Munich, Germany, offices and a member of the firm鈥檚 litigation department, where he specializes in intellectual property matters. He is recognized as one of the nation鈥檚 leading biotech and pharmaceutical patent attorneys and is known for his leadership in a number of the landmark cases in the field. Koch began his career as a chemist prior to becoming a patent examiner in the high polymer arts at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He received a B.S. in chemistry in 1968 from the University of Detroit and a J.D. in 1973 from the Catholic University of America.
