Oakland, Calif., chemist re-elected as a district director of world鈥檚 largest scientific society
WASHINGTON, Dec. 20, 2012 鈥 Bonnie A. Charpentier, Ph.D., a chemist and vice president of Metabolex, Inc., in Hayward, Calif., has been re-elected Director of District VI of the Board of Directors of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), the world鈥檚 largest scientific society. ACS District VI covers 11 western states, including Alaska and Hawaii, and part of Canada.
Charpentier has served on the ACS Board of Directors since 2006, including the last two years as Chair of the Board. She will serve a three-year term as district director from 2012-2014.
鈥淐hemistry employment is one of the most urgent issues for our members,鈥 Charpentier says. 鈥淎CS has strong and evolving programs for career development, leadership, job search, and interview skills. Our additional focus must be advocacy for chemistry jobs in this country and new ways of encouraging job growth and entrepreneurship.鈥
