“Know Your Drugs� –� a pharmacology primer for chemical and life science professionals is ACS Webinars� topic
WASHINGTON, March 21, 2011 � The modern drug discovery process is the topic of the next in a series of American Chemical й365betĹ (ACS) Webinars� for scientists and chemical professionals.
Participants will learn:
- Stages of the modern drug discovery process
- How pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics are used to guide discovery
- The primary assays used in discovery and development to guide optimization of efficacy and PK properties, what these assays give you, and how to interpret the data
Kenakin earned his B.S. in chemistry and Ph.D. in pharmacology at the University of Alberta, Canada. After three years at University College, London, UK, he joined Burroughs-Wellcome as a senior research pharmacologist. He then joined GlaxoSmithKline. Kenakin is the author of eight books on pharmacology including most recently, A Pharmacology Primer, Third Edition: Theory, Application and Methods. He is co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Receptors and Signal Transduction and Current Opinion in Pharmacology.
