American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 Implements CrossCheck Plagiarism Screening
WASHINGTON, Oct. 10, 2013 鈥 The American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) Publications Division has implemented CrossCheck powered by iThenticate to assist its journal editorial offices with screening for plagiarism. In publishing only original research, ACS is committed to deterring plagiarism, including self-plagiarism.
Sarah Tegen, Ph.D., Director, Editorial Office Operation ACS Publications says, 鈥淎CS Publications is committed to upholding the integrity of the scientific record and copyright of the journals it publishes.鈥 ACS and its Editors adhere to the principle that the observance and practice of high ethical standards is vital to the entire scientific enterprise. Toward that end, guidelines for a course of conduct by those engaged in the publication of chemical research鈥攕pecifically, editors, authors, and manuscript reviewers鈥攁re set forth in the ACS . CrossCheck aids in this process.
The CrossCheck initiative, created by CrossRef and powered by iParadigms' iThenticate software, provides a mechanism for detecting plagiarism in scholarly publications. CrossCheck consists of two parts, a content repository and the iThenticate software. The content repository is a large database of professional and scholarly work into which ACS and many other scholarly publishers have deposited their published content. The iThenticate software compares submitted manuscripts against content in the repository and provides reports that help editors verify originality.
