Barbara Sawrey, UCSD dean, re-elected to board of world鈥檚 largest scientific society
WASHINGTON, December 1, 2014 鈥� Barbara A. Sawrey, Ph.D., dean for undergraduate education and a distinguished teaching professor of chemistry at the University of California, San Diego, was re-elected director-at-large of the Board of Directors of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), the world鈥檚 largest scientific society. She will begin her second three-year term on Jan. 1.
An ACS member since 1975, Sawrey has served on and chaired numerous national committees and task forces in such areas as public affairs and public relations, professional and member relations, professional training, and grants and awards. 聽
Sawrey received a B.S. from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, an M.A. from San Diego State University and a Ph.D. jointly from the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University.
She resides in La Jolla, California.
