WASHINGTON, July 30, 2015 â€� American Chemical Öйú365betÖÐÎĹÙÍø (ACS) President Diane Grob Schmidt, Ph.D., will sponsor several events related to the theme of the ACS 250^th National Meeting & Exposition, “Innovation from Discovery to Application.â€� The meeting runs from Aug. 16 to 20 in Boston. The presidential events will be held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and area hotels.

The meeting’s first presidential symposium, highlighting the research at the National Science Foundation’s Centers for Chemical Innovation, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Burroughs Room, Westin Boston Waterfront, and then from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.in the Galleria Room, Westin Boston Waterfront. Speakers will include the heads of all eight Centers for Chemical Innovation. A poster session and reception will follow.

A symposium called �21^st Century Education: Formal and Informal� will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Monday in room 158 at the convention center.

Also on Sunday, a symposium honoring Edwin Land and instant photography, sponsored by the ACS History Division, will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 50 at the convention center. This symposium follows the National Historic Chemical Landmark designation on “Edwin Land and Instant Photography� at the MIT Museum on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

On Monday, Aug.17, ACS will celebrate the 20^th anniversary of the ACS Scholars program with a special symposium, “ACS Scholars: Rising Stars in Industry,� at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, Back Bay A Room, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. and from 1:45 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.

On Tuesday, Aug.18, an all-day symposium called, “Transforming University-Industry Partnerships for an Innovative Future,� will be held in the Burroughs Room, Westin Boston Waterfront, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Speakers from both academia and corporations will highlight the role that better university-industry partnerships can play in driving more innovation.
