Highlights for 2015 national meeting of world鈥檚 largest scientific society

WASHINGTON, July 7, 2015 鈥� Journalists for the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 (ACS鈥�) 250th National Meeting & Exposition this fall will have a wealth of new scientific information available for their news stories. More than 9,000 presentations are planned on a wide range of topics from health to the environment. The meeting, one of the largest scientific conferences of the year, will be held August 16-20 in Boston.

The theme of the meeting is 鈥淚nnovation from Discovery to Application,鈥� but a variety of sessions also will focus on breakthroughs in medicine, food and materials. Among the planned symposia are the following:
- Nanomaterials for Defense & Homeland Security Applications
- Biofuels for Powering the World: Discovery to Application
- Bioactive Compounds from Fruits & Vegetables
- Nanotheranostics for Cancer Applications
- Food Toxicants Formed During Food Processing & Storage
- The Role of Gut Microbiota in Carcinogenesis
- From Raw to Varoom: The Science Behind Getting a Car on the Road
- Pollinators and Agrochemicals
The ACS Office of Public Affairs will operate a press center in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Room 153B. It will include a press conference room and a news media workroom fully staffed to assist in arranging interviews. The press center will have wireless Internet access, computers, a photocopier and refreshments.
Embargoed copies of press releases and a press conference schedule will be available in early August. Reporters planning to cover the meeting from their home bases will have access to the press conferences .
