American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 honors icons in industry, finance and science

NEW YORK, Nov. 30, 聽2015 鈥� The American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) will honor six distinguished individuals who have helped harness the transforming power of chemistry to advance humanity at the Chemical Marketing and Economics group of ACS New York Section Leadership Awards on Dec. 8 in the Yale Club of New York City ballroom, 50 Vanderbilt Ave.

鈥淭he Earth鈥檚 sustainability challenges are formidable. Humanity relies on scientific breakthroughs and industry鈥檚 innovations more than ever before,鈥� said ACS President Diane Schmidt, Ph.D. 鈥淭hese awards recognize brilliant leaders in industry, finance and science involvement who are actively shaping the transformational role of chemistry as the central science that enhances our quality of life.鈥�

The 2015 honorees are:

  • P. Roy Vagelos, M.D., chairman of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and former chairman and CEO of Merck & Co., Inc.
  • Erik Fyrwald, president and CEO of Univar
  • Michael Fisch, CEO of American Securities
  • Scott Wolf, president of American Securities, and
  • Tracy Day, and Brian Greene, Ph.D., founders of the World Science Festival

Actor, director and writer Alan Alda will speak at the event. Alda helped establish the at Stony Brook University, where he leads workshops that use improvisational theater games to help scientists communicate more directly and personally.

聽鈥淎s the world鈥檚 largest scientific society, ACS is proud of the Chemical Marketing and Economics group鈥檚 61 years of service reaching out to all stakeholders in the advancement of humanity through chemistry,鈥� said Thomas M.
