American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 comment available Oct. 7 on 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2015 鈥� To assist with coverage of the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), the world鈥檚 largest scientific society, will issue a statement from ACS President Diane Grob Schmidt, Ph.D., shortly after the official announcement in Stockholm is made on Oct. 7. Schmidt also will be available for interviews shortly after the chemistry prize announcement.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which awards the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, plans to make the announcement at about 5:45 a.m. United States Eastern Time on Oct. 7. Schmidt will be available for telephone interviews beginning at 6:15 a.m. Journalists are encouraged to schedule an interview in advance by contacting the ACS Office of Public Affairs (using the contact information above) by 5 p.m. on Oct. 6. Scheduling of interviews will be first come, first served.

Many past winners of the chemistry prize were ACS members and authors of research papers published in ACS鈥� suite of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Diane Grob Schmidt, Ph.D., is the president of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网. She is an adjunct professor of chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. She retired in 2014 from Procter & Gamble Company, where she served as section head. A member of ACS for 48 years, she has been active in many aspects of the 中国365bet中文官网, holding leadership positions at the local, regional and national levels. Schmidt has received many awards and honors, including the Henry Hill Award sponsored by the ACS Division of Professional Relations and being named an ACS Fellow. She holds a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Tennessee 鈥� Chattanooga and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Cincinnati.
