American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 celebrates Congressional Chemistry Caucus launch
WASHINGTON, April 28, 2016 鈥� The American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) congratulates Reps. John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Dan Lipinski, Ph.D., (D-IL) on yesterday鈥檚 launch of the bipartisan Congressional Chemistry Caucus. ACS, the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) worked with the congressmen to establish the caucus, which will help inform members of Congress, their staffs and the public about chemistry鈥檚 benefits for society and the economy.
Reps. Moolenaar and Lipinski, caucus co-chairs, have considerable experience with science and technology. They both serve on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. In addition, Moolenaar holds a degree in chemistry, while Lipinski has a degree in mechanical engineering.
鈥淲e pledge to work with our colleagues in the chemistry enterprise and members of the caucus to advance responsible and balanced policy to help facilitate the growth of the chemistry enterprise and boost investment in federal research and development, foster innovation, improve STEM聽 education, facilitate advanced manufacturing and protect the environment,鈥� said ACS Executive Director and CEO Thomas Connelly Jr., Ph.D., at the kickoff event, which took place from 5 to 7 p.m. EDT at the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. 鈥淐hemistry is the central science that is unlocking solutions to global challenges, and our members are those global solution providers.鈥�
The congressmen and Connelly were joined by ACC CEO Calvin M. Dooley and NACD President Eric R. Byer at the launch event.
