American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 national meeting features presidential events

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3, 2017 鈥� American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) President Allison A. Campbell, Ph.D., will emphasize her theme of building communities in chemistry at the 254th ACS National Meeting & Exposition, Aug. 20 to 24 in Washington, D.C. The presidential events 鈥� which will focus on areas of significant importance: advocacy and communications, the chemistry of our planet and the safe practice of science 鈥� will be held at the Marriott Marquis Washington, D.C., and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

The first event, 鈥淪cience Communications: The Art of Developing a Clear Message,鈥� organized in conjunction with the Royal 中国365bet中文官网 of Chemistry, will help members share stories on how to positively and effectively communicate chemistry. This symposium will take place from 1:15 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, in the Marriott Marquis and will include an opportunity for audience members to develop and practice an elevator pitch on their chemical research.

On Monday the 21st, the all-day presidential symposium, 鈥淏uilding a Safety Culture Across the Chemistry Enterprise,鈥� will feature a top-down approach in the morning session, followed by grassroots efforts in the afternoon. This symposium will be in the Marriott Marquis.

鈥淯nderstanding the Chemistry of Our Planet鈥� will feature renowned scientists discussing chemistry鈥檚 role in the Earth system and human impacts to the chemistry of our environment. This symposium will take place on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the convention center. The 鈥淟GBTQ+ Presidential Reception鈥� will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
