Inaugural Asia-Pacific chemistry conference will be held in South Korea Nov. 5-8

WASHINGTON, Sept. 12, 2017 鈥� The American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) in partnership with its South Korean chapter is pleased to announce the plenary speaker line-up for the inaugural ACS Asia-Pacific International Chapters Conference (APICC). The meeting will be held Nov. 5-8 in Jeju, South Korea.

Nobel Laureate Sir J. Fraser Stoddart, Ph.D., and ACS President Allison A. Campbell, Ph.D., will be headline speakers at the event. In a lecture entitled 鈥淢y Journey to Stockholm,鈥� Stoddart will highlight his experience and research that led to his 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

APICC is the inaugural gathering of the region鈥檚 chemistry community organized by 10 ACS International Chemical Sciences Chapters from across Asia. The meeting will be hosted by the ACS South Korean chapter with the following other ACS chapters: Australia, Hong Kong, India, Jinginji (Beijing-Tianjin), Malaysia, Shanghai, Southwest China, Taiwan and Thailand. Chaired by Agnes Rimando, Ph.D., (a scientist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and member of the ACS Committee on International Activities), the conference is open to scientists; other professionals in the science, technology, engineering and math fields; and students in chemistry and related sciences in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Abstracts for the program are due by Sept. 15. The technical program will cover a breadth of key areas in chemistry including agricultural and food chemistry, agrochemistry, chemical education, chemical engineering, environmental chemistry, geochemistry, inorganic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, natural products chemistry, organic chemistry and polymer chemistry.
