Nanoscience and the future of healthcare kick off first day of ACS national meeting in Boston

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2, 2018 鈥擳he profound impact of nanoscience and chemistry on the future of healthcare will be explored in the opening session of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 (ACS鈥�) 256th National Meeting & Exposition, Aug. 19-23 in Boston. ACS President Peter K. Dorhout, Ph.D., is cosponsoring the session, which will set the stage for the meeting鈥檚 theme of 鈥�Nanoscience, Nanotechnology & Beyond.鈥�

Opening session: 鈥�21st Century Medicine Will Transform Healthcare: Opportunities for Nanoscience and Chemistry鈥� by Leroy Hood, Ph.D., of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle. Paul Weiss, Ph.D., of UCLA will moderate the session, which will take place Sunday, Aug. 19, 4鈥�5 p.m. in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Ballroom West.

Welcome reception: The reception will take place at the Expo & Career Fair, Sunday, Aug. 19, 5:30鈥�7:30 p.m., in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Hall A.

Presidential programming and events will emphasize Dorhout鈥檚 themes of enhancing chemists鈥� adaptability and promoting safety and diversity, beginning with the two-part symposium 鈥淢oving the Safety Values of the ACS Forward,鈥� which highlights safety education, communication and leadership.
