John Adams re-elected chair of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网's board of directors

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2018 鈥� John E. Adams, Ph.D., has been re-elected chair of the board of directors of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), the world鈥檚 largest scientific society. Adams will begin another one-year term on Jan. 1, 2019.

As chair of the board, Adams will preside over board and executive committee meetings, oversee the performance of the chief executive officer, appoint chairs and members of board committees and task forces, and ensure that strategic planning and evaluation of progress toward strategic goals occur, among other duties.

Adams is a Curators鈥� Distinguished Teaching Professor (emeritus) of chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1981.

An ACS member since 1974, Adams earned his bachelor's degree at the Rolla campus of the University of Missouri in 1974 and his doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley in 1979.

Adams resides in Columbia, Missouri, with his spouse, Carol A. Deakyne, Ph.D., who is also an emeritus member of the University of Missouri faculty.
