American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 statement on the bipartisan budget deal
WASHINGTON, Feb. 9, 2018 鈥斅The following is a statement from the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) on the bipartisan budget signed into law today. The legislation includes raising the caps on defense spending by $165 billion over the next two years, while non-defense spending will rise by $131 billion.
ACS is encouraged by the bipartisan budget deal that includes an increase in domestic spending over two years. ACS encourages Congress to invest heavily in scientific research and education, which are key elements of the U.S. innovation pipeline that drives job creation and economic growth. ACS will work closely with its members to ensure Congress hears about the important work supported by federal agencies, such as the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Department of Energy. These research agencies, as well as others, develop world-class science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) talent and ensure America鈥檚 future global competitiveness.
The American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网, the world鈥檚 largest scientific society, is a not-for-profit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress. ACS is a global leader in providing access to chemistry-related information and research through its multiple databases, peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences. ACS does not conduct research, but publishes and publicizes peer-reviewed scientific studies. Its main offices are in Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio.
