American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 expands its applied materials publishing with new biomaterials journal
WASHINGTON, March 21, 2018 鈥 The Publications Division of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) today announced ACS Applied Bio Materials will be published as a new interdisciplinary journal within the editorial purview of the 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 well-established ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces portfolio. The new journal will feature original research covering all aspects of biomaterials, emphasizing applied work across the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, materials science and physics.
Kirk Schanze, Ph.D., professor of chemistry at the University of Texas at San Antonio, serves as editor-in-chief of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and its cadre of topical journals, now four in number with the addition of ACS Applied Bio Materials. Shu Wang, Ph.D., professor, Institute of Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will serve as ACS Applied Bio Materials鈥 deputy editor. Wang is a global leader in biomaterials research. He has been an associate and executive editor with ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces since 2011 and has served on editorial advisory boards for other journals published by the 中国365bet中文官网. Wang, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Organic Solids with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has published more than 200 peer-reviewed research articles and several influential books.
鈥淏io-related materials, as one of the fastest growing interdisciplinary research areas globally, have emerged at the frontier between biology and the other scientific disciplines,鈥 says Wang. 鈥淎n important aspect of the study of bio-related materials is their novel application in biosensing, imaging, therapeutics, bioenergy, biocatalysis, bioelectronics and other innovations. It is our intention that ACS Applied Bio Materials will communicate the most recent and relevant breakthrough research dealing with the design of functional bio-related materials and their significant practical applications.鈥
"Professor Wang brings more than seven years of experience editing for ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces to the new journal,鈥 says Schanze. 鈥淗e has broad expertise in the biological aspects of materials chemistry and materials science, and will lead a diverse and interdisciplinary group of associate editors to be selected from across the global scientific landscape. I am confident that he and his editorial team will bring the requisite leadership and editorial rigor to bear in ensuring the success of this latest publishing endeavor with ACS.鈥
ACS Applied Bio Materials will center on applied biological, biomedical, bioinspired and biomedical materials, in which biological assemblies, mechanisms and underlying functions are utilized for the development of novel synthetic materials and the design of devices with advanced structures and functions. Within that scope, the journal also will highlight innovative work that addresses the relationship between structure and function, and that assesses the stability and degradation of materials under relevant environmental and biological conditions.
ACS Applied Bio Materials will begin accepting author submissions in April 2018, with the first peer-reviewed articles to appear online this summer. The journal will publish original research articles, research letters and timely reviews, among other editorial features. Authors publishing in ACS Applied Bio Materials will benefit from a broad range of peer-review and author services from ACS Publications, including expert editorial review by active researchers and flexible and affordable open access publishing options. Authors not selected for publication in the journal may also opt for seamless internal transfer of their submissions to another of the 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 preeminent journals appropriately positioned to reach the author鈥檚 desired scientific audience.
鈥淎s chemistry expands rapidly and globally,聽authors are seeking trusted publishing partners who can help them disseminate their research on an international scale,鈥澛爏ays Sarah Tegen, Ph.D., vice president, Global Journals Development at ACS Publications. 鈥淥ur 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 growing portfolio of applied materials journals showcases the development of new bio-, nano- and energy materials that are contributing to solving some of the world鈥檚 grand scientific challenges through new chemistry.鈥
