Opening session at ACS meeting will focus on nexus of food, energy and water
WASHINGTON, March 8, 2018鈥擠uring the Opening Session and Welcome Reception, five scientists will explore a variety of subjects related to the 鈥淣exus of Food, Energy and Water鈥� theme of the 255th National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网, the world鈥檚 largest scientific society. The meeting will take place March 18 to 22 in New Orleans.
The presentations, which are among more than 13,000 scheduled to take place at the meeting, will be held on Sunday, March 18, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Great Hall A of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The opening session, as well as all thematic programming, is organized by Jerald Schnoor of the University of Iowa.
The talks will focus on adapting to future challenges in the area of food, energy and water. The titles of the opening session talks are listed below:
- Mark Jacobson, Ph.D: 鈥淭ransitioning world energy for all purposes to stable electricity powered by 100% wind, water, and sunlight鈥�
- Yun Hang Hu, Ph.D.: 鈥淎dvanced materials and processes for energy and water鈥�
- Pratim Biswas, Ph.D.: 鈥淣anoparticle technology enabling smart agriculture solutions: Nexus of food and environment鈥�
- David A. Dzombak, Ph.D.: 鈥淯nconventional hydrocarbon development and water resources鈥�
- Amy Childress, Ph.D.: 鈥淚ntegrating systems of water reuse and desalination: More water, less energy鈥�
A welcome reception for meeting attendees will immediately follow the opening session.
