American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 names Hongwei Wu new editor-in-chief of Energy & Fuels
WASHINGTON, Dec. 3, 2019 鈥 The Publications Division of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), today named Hongwei Wu, Ph.D., professor of chemical engineering at Curtin University, Perth, as the new editor-in-chief of Energy & Fuels. Wu previously served as an associate editor for聽Energy & Fuels聽from 2008 and will succeed Editor-in-Chief Michael T. Klein, Sc. D, beginning in January 2020.
Under Wu鈥檚 direction, the journal will substantially expand its scope into the domain of alternative energy research, including solar fuels, energy conversion and storage, and energy materials. Energy & Fuels will continue to publish research on fossil fuels, and the emphasis will be on research in sustainable development, carbon capture, utilization and storage, and unconventional fossil fuel sources.
Wu is the head of the discipline of chemical engineering at the Western Australian School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering at Curtin University, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2002. His research interests span a broad number of topics, focusing on the development of novel solutions to meet the worldwide demand for energy, with particular emphasis on bioenergy science and engineering, production of green chemicals from biomass, thermochemical processing of solid fuels and the transformation of impurities in fuels, among many others. He has also served as either a guest professor or an international expert at several institutions, including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Institute of Process Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and CNRS: Laboratorie Proc茅d茅s Mat茅riaux et 脡nergie Solaire.
鈥淚鈥檓 very excited and honored to have the privilege to serve as the new editor-in-chief of Energy & Fuels. The field of fuels and energy is rapidly growing and going through significant transition. My vision for Energy & Fuels is to implement a set of integrated strategies to seize the opportunity for raising the journal to the next level in this exploding but interdisciplinary research field, building on and extending the existing strengths of the journal,鈥 Wu says. 鈥Energy & Fuels will be focused on publishing original research that leads to the discovery of new transformable knowledge and/or advances in technologies of lasting significance.鈥
Founded in 1987, Energy & Fuels has become the premier journal at the intersection of the disciplines of chemistry and chemical engineering and the application domain of energy and fuels. ACS Publications extends its sincere thanks to Klein for his outstanding leadership of the journal since 2002.聽
鈥淲e are delighted to welcome Professor Hongwei Wu in his new role as editor-in-chief of Energy & Fuels,鈥 says James Milne, Ph.D., acting president, ACS Publications Division. 鈥淲ith his extensive research in the field of alternative energy and fuels, Professor Wu is the right person to lead the journal and expand its influence in this cutting-edge field.鈥
