American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 names S茅bastien Lecommandoux as the new editor-in-chief of Biomacromolecules

WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2019 鈥 The Publications Division of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) today named S茅bastien Lecommandoux, Ph.D., of the University of Bordeaux, France, as the new editor-in-chief of聽Biomacromolecules. Founded in 2000, Biomacromolecules聽is a leading forum for the dissemination of cutting-edge research at the interface of polymer science and biology.

Lecommandoux is full professor at the University of Bordeaux. He is director of the Laboratoire de Chimie des Polym猫res Organiques (LCPO-CNRS) and is leading the group . Lecommandoux brings a wealth of knowledge of the editorial process to Biomacromolecules. Since 2013, he has been associate editor of聽Biomacromolecules, and he currently serves on the editorial advisory boards of聽Bioconjugate Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Biomaterials Science and Polymers.

鈥淚 am so excited to start this new position and work with the international Biomacromolecules team to push forward the journal鈥檚 position as the go-to place for cutting-edge results at the interface between polymer science and biology,鈥 says Lecommandoux. 鈥淲e just celebrated the 20th anniversary of Biomacromolecules, and our challenge is to continue to develop this interface that is critical to solve many of the current challenges in our modern and ever-changing society. I am interested in expanding the journal鈥檚 focus into exciting areas of research, such as bio-inspired to bio-sourced polymers; renewable, biodegradable and biocompatible polymers; bio-catalysis; biomaterials; and regenerative medicine or advanced pharmaceutics.鈥

Lecommandoux鈥檚 research focuses include polypeptide and polysaccharide-based block copolymer聽 self-assembly, the design of polymersomes for drug delivery and theranostics, as well as biomimetic approaches toward design of synthetic viruses and artificial cells. He has pioneered the design of smart polymer self-assemblies, especially controlling the conformation of polypeptides. He developed stimuli-responsive polymer vesicles as efficient nanocarriers presenting multivalent interactions with biological receptors. Recently, he tackled a new challenge consisting of the bottom-up design of functional synthetic cells from compartmentalized polymer structures, combining multi-component and multi-scale self-assembly of biologically inspired building blocks.

鈥淚t is with great pleasure that we welcome Professor Lecommandoux as the editor-in-chief of聽Biomacromolecules. As only the second editor-in-chief in its history, Professor Lecommandoux is uniquely positioned to shape the trajectory of聽Biomacromolecules, and we are excited to work with him on his vision for the journal,鈥 says James Milne, Ph.D., acting president, ACS Publications Division. 鈥淚 would also like to extend ACS鈥 gratitude for the significant contributions of Professor Ann-Christine Albertsson, the inaugural editor, in building聽叠颈辞尘补肠谤辞尘辞濒别肠耻濒别蝉听into the leading publication in the field.鈥澛
