John Adams to serve 3rd term as chair of American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网's board of directors
WASHINGTON, Dec. 16, 2019 鈥� John E. Adams, Ph.D., has been re-elected chair of the board of directors of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), a scientific membership organization with more than 152,000 members. Adams, who has served as chair for two years, will begin his third one-year term on Jan. 1, 2020.
As chair of the 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 16-member chief governing body, Adams will preside over board and executive committee meetings, appoint chairs and members of board committees and task forces, oversee the performance of the chief executive officer and support strategic planning and evaluation of progress toward those goals, among other duties.
An ACS member since 1974, Adams earned his bachelor's degree at the Rolla campus of the University of Missouri in 1974 and his doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley in 1979.
Adams is a curators鈥� distinguished teaching professor (emeritus) of chemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1981.
Adams resides in Columbia, Missouri, with his spouse, Carol A. Deakyne, Ph.D., who is also an emeritus member of the University of Missouri faculty.
