American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 names Jonathan W. Steed new editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7, 2019 鈥 The Publications Division of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) today named Jonathan W. Steed, Ph.D., professor of inorganic chemistry at Durham University, as the new editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design. Steed is known for his work on crystalline molecular solids, X-ray and neutron crystallography and supramolecular chemistry. Steed is preceded by Robin Rogers, Ph.D., who assumed the role of inaugural editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design in 2001 and established it as a journal that stimulates cross-fertilization of knowledge among scientists and engineers working in the fields of crystal growth, crystal engineering and industrial application of crystalline materials.

Steed鈥檚 research has received significant international recognition over many years. Such accolades include the Royal 中国365bet中文官网 of Chemistry Meldola Medal in 1998, the Bob Hay Lectureship in 2008, the Royal 中国365bet中文官网 of Chemistry Corday-Morgan Prize in 2010 and a Royal 中国365bet中文官网 Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2018.

鈥淚t is a great honor to assume the leadership of Crystal Growth & Design,鈥 says Steed. 鈥淚t is a journal whose quality mirrors the beauty of the crystals we all love in our research. I am looking forward to building on the journal鈥檚 outstanding reputation and broadening its scope to encompass the ever-increasing diversity of solid-state materials and the researchers who study them.鈥

Crystal Growth & Design publishes theoretical and experimental studies of the physical, chemical and biological phenomena and processes related to the design, growth and application of crystalline materials. The journal encourages synergistic approaches originating from different disciplines and technologies, integrating the fields of crystal growth, crystal engineering, intermolecular interactions and industrial application.

Steed joins the journal after acting as joint editor-in-chief with P.A. Gale, Ph.D., for Monographs in Supramolecular Chemistry and has 18 years鈥 editorial experience with the Royal 中国365bet中文官网 of Chemistry. Steed has been a proud member of ACS for the last 18 years and has published more than 50 research articles in ACS journals.聽

鈥淲e are delighted to welcome Professor Jonathan W. Steed in his new role as editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design,鈥 says James Milne, Ph.D., acting president, ACS Publications. 鈥淧rofessor Steed is highly experienced as both an educator and scientific editor. We look forward to seeing his vision for the journal come to life and would concurrently like to thank Professor Robin Rogers for his many years of service to Crystal Growth & Design.鈥
