WASHINGTON, Sept. 21, 2021 鈥� The Publications Division of the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS) welcomes Jacob Hooker, Ph.D., of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School as the editor-in-chief of ACS Chemical Neuroscience.

鈥淚鈥檝e been a proud part of the ACS Chemical Neuroscience community since the journal鈥檚 first issue, and as editor-in-chief, I plan to use the journal to inspire and unite,鈥� says Hooker. 鈥淚 will work to grow the journal鈥檚 community, expand opportunities for young scientists and connect with institutions focused on neuroscience globally. I look forward to continuing the journal鈥檚 tradition of excellence and will work to position ACS Chemical Neuroscience as the leading communicator in its field.鈥�

Hooker is the Lurie Family professor of radiology in the field of autism research at Harvard Medical School and directs a thriving neuroimaging and chemical neuroscience program at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at MGH. He serves as scientific director of the Lurie Center for Autism, director of radiochemistry at the Martinos Center and director of translational biomarkers at the MGH Center for the Neuroscience of Psychedelics. He holds affiliate or associate appointments at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Broad Institute and the Dana Farber Cancer Center. Hooker is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, and a Talented 12 Award from ACS鈥� Chemical & Engineering News. Hooker is a National Academy of Sciences Kavli Frontiers of Science fellow and has been named a distinguished investigator by the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research. Hooker completed his undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University and received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

ACS Chemical Neuroscience, established in 2010, publishes high-quality research articles and reviews that showcase chemical, quantitative biological, biophysical and bioengineering approaches to the understanding of the nervous system and to the development of new treatments for neurological disorders.聽Hooker has been closely involved in the journal鈥檚 activities since its inception, having been one of the first authors published in the journal, publishing in it more than 30 times, and having served as an associate editor since 2013 and in the capacity of interim editor-in-chief since the beginning of 2021.聽
