Call for nominations for EPA鈥檚 2023 Green Chemistry Challenge Awards
WASHINGTON, Sept. 1, 2022 鈥� The American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网 (ACS), in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), announces the call for nominations for the to recognize businesses, individuals, academic institutions and nonprofits for innovative green chemistry solutions and products.聽
Applications are due to EPA by Dec. 9, 2022. A webinar will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. ET to educate stakeholders on the Green Chemistry Challenge Awards and the nomination process. .
The ACS Green Chemistry Institute will convene an independent panel of technical experts to formally judge the nominations and make recommendations to EPA for the 2023 winners.

鈥淕reen Chemistry Challenge Award winners are leaders in their fields, and their technologies demonstrate how this revolutionary discipline can be used to prevent pollution at its source,鈥� says Jennie Romer, deputy assistant administrator for pollution prevention in EPA鈥檚 Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention. 鈥淕reen chemistry is also a tool in the fight against climate change, and by encouraging the use of greener products, it can advance environmental justice in underserved and overburdened communities where industrial sites are disproportionately located.鈥�
Since the inception of the awards program more than 25 years ago, EPA has received more than 1,800 nominations and presented awards for 133 technologies that decrease hazardous chemicals and use of resources, reduce costs and protect human health. Winning technologies are responsible for annually reducing the use or generation of hundreds of millions of pounds of hazardous chemicals, saving billions of gallons of water and eliminating billions of pounds of carbon dioxide equivalents.
