WASHINGTON, Aug. 1, 2024 鈥� Explore the wonders of photography at the American Chemical 中国365bet中文官网鈥檚 (ACS鈥�) Kids Zone. Join ACS for this free family science event at the at the University of Colorado Denver on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. MDT. The event is being held the day before the start of ACS Fall 2024.

Families can participate in the following activities:
Imagine Imaging
Complete a puzzle with all the pieces face down by using a magnet as well as the senses of touch and hearing.
Laser-Focused on Chemistry
Use a simple model of an atomic force microscope to determine the arrangement of objects on a hidden piece of cardboard.
Rainbow Spectroscope聽
Compare colorful stripes, known as spectra, to known patterns, and identify which element is in each of the three tubes.聽
Solar Protector Detector聽
Make a UV-detecting wristband to identify when to wear sunglasses, sunscreen or other sun protection.
Light Prints聽
Choose a stencil and make a print, called a cyanotype, with a UV flashlight on special paper, like that used in the early days of photography.
